obligat -ada
adj. 1 [LC] Thank you.
m. 2 [MUSE] Musical piece in the performance of which an instrument plays a major role.
These two are the main meanings of the word obligatory that we can find in the dictionary and that, in fact, coincide in the intention of the CD that you have in your hands: in the Cobla Sant Jordi we realized that in the more than 30 years of history that we already have, and after having made about eighty various recordings, we had not dedicated any of them exclusively to this very characteristic part of our repertoire: that of the obligatory sardanas. We know that these very demanding sardanas, in which one or more instruments act as outstanding soloists, are much loved by the sardana audience, as they allow us to appreciate the faculties of the musicians of the couples when they fully deploy their technical and expressive abilities. And it is precisely to this sardana audience - the one who attends dances, gatherings and music concerts for cobla - to whom, above all, this work is addressed: we feel very obliged, very grateful, to the audience we have. Thank you all, and enjoy the music!
