A year and a half after closing the tour of "Atletes, baixin de l'escenari" (2013) before 60,000 people (La Mercè, 2014), Manel announced the details of his new album, "Jo competeixo", which will be published on next April 8 on CD and double vinill. Unlike the previous three, recorded in strict privacy, the fourth album by the Barcelona quartet signifies his first experience with a producer, the American Jake Aron, who has collaborated with artists such as Grizzly Bear, Jamie Lidell, Tune-Yards and Chairlift and has produced the debut of rapper Le1f, among others.
With their help, Guillem Gisbert, Roger Padilla, Martí Maymó and Arnau Vallvé planned a two-phase recording that took place between last November and December: the first in Dreamland, a studio installed in an old church near Woodstock; the second at Dr. Wu's, Jake's studio located in Brooklyn (New York). The result is eleven songs that, mastered at Sterling Sound by Chris Gehring (Rihanna, Drake, Nose, Wu-Tang Clan), redefine their sound with electronic nuances.
A decided inflection towards contemporary pop that has the SAbotatge theme as a preview single. It is the appetizer of an album that will be presented live on June 4 at the Parc del Fòrum (Barcelona) within the Primavera Sound program, in what will be the starting point of a tour that already has a good number of dates confirmed.
