The Sant Andreu Jazz Band was born in 2006 founded by the jazz musician and teacher Joan Chamorro. The band is currently made up of 22 young people between 7 and 21 years old and during its almost 15 years of experience, more than 60 have been part of the orchestra. The history of the SAJB's pedagogical project is one of success simmered and that, without rush or great ambition, has been able to become known throughout the world, through the dissemination of its work on the internet. Great musicians of the current jazz scene have collaborated with them.
Andrea Motis, Eva Fernàndez, Rita Payés, Joan Mar, Marc Martí, Joan Codina and Èlia Bastida are some of the names that have emerged from their project and are having relevance in the national and international jazz scene.
"Jazzing 10 Vol. 2" With the participation of Joe Magnarelli, Joan Monné and David Xirgu. This volume 2 is also a sample of the different recordings that we have made during 2019, both with the entire Sant Andreu Jazz Band, and in smaller formats, and in two different spaces such as the JAZZ HOUSE (headquarters of the young orchestra) and the JAMBOREE, a regular place during all these years, where we have also played and recorded on many occasions.
The SAJB has performed concerts throughout the country and also in France, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, and a long etcetera.
Joan Chamorro, founder and director, has shared his way of working and his philosophy all over the world: Stanford University (USA), Medellín (Colombia), Marciac (France), Guadalajara and Mexico City (Mexico), and in different cities from Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden, Poland, Germany, etc. The "Chamorro Method" has become a world reference, for its contribution to the production and dissemination of music (jazz and bossa nova) and for working with young people who have seen how their lives were impregnated with music and who have inspired hundreds of other young people around the world.
