On December 7, 2015, tenor-saxophonist Scott Hamilton, pianist Dena DeRose, bassist Ignasi González and drummer Jo Krause met at a theater in Benicassim, Spain. At the end of the concert, they had recorded enough material to fill two CDs: La Rosita and La sombra de tu Similarly. The success of that project led the quartet to record an encore.
Scott Hamilton has been a jazz giant since coming onto the scene in the mid-1970s. Dena DeRose says: "What I like most about Scott's playing is his great full sound, his laid back style and how shapes your solos with a sense of ease and direction. Also chooses great melodies. " It cannot be overstated how unusual it was in the mid-1970s for a world-class young tenor-saxophonist to emerge who interpreted vintage standards in a warm, melodic, and swinging way. At the time, saxophonists of Scott's generation who wanted to play jazz generally caught a fusion or r & b band, played soul jazz with an organist, or participated in avant-garde music.
