REDSHARK was founded in 2012 in Barcelona, Spain, by Philip Graves (guitar) with the goal of delivering classic and hard-hitting Heavy Speed Metal. Their traditional 80s metal influences might tap into the nostalgia circuit, but REDSHARK relentlessly carries the torch with a fierce attitude and powerful melodic songwriting.
The band completed its lineup in 2013 with Javier Bono on second guitar, Mark Striker on drums, Chris Carrest on bass, and Pau Correas on vocals. Their first official release, the EP "Evil Realm", came out in 2019 and showed the band pushing the speed even further. Those five intense songs garnered an enthusiastic response and helped spread the REDSHARK name both nationally and internationally.
Since then, REDSHARK has refined its heavy metal style—raw yet precise, dark, catchy, and addictive—while staying true to its original influences, drawn from undisputed metal legends such as Judas Priest, Savatage, Exciter, and Metal Church.
The band's album covers are highly entertaining, featuring comic-book-style illustrations that depict a rabid red human shark on a rampage. They also represent the band's bloodthirsty drive when producing those powerful riffs and hint at their energetic live performances. That red shark is, obviously, the band's mascot.
