“Where the City Ends” is a private notebook, a journey through some piano pieces I have written over the years. In this project, I don’t feel I’m a composer, or an architect of musical structures, or a creator of previously unheard sounds, so much as a radiologist looking at his own X-rays in an ‘inward concentration’. These photographs reveal the intermediate moments of a journey in which I travel alone, while steering a course between the most total darkness and ‘everything lit up’. The music moves my silence, whether it sounds or not, from one place to another and fills no void for me, but causes it when I move away from it. A journey born from pristine primitiveness, from an immediateness without filters or citations, nor conscious references. A journey made up of instants that adapt to later instants. The vegetation is born, it flowers, it fades and is born again. And it’s always the same, but is always different.
