The Enrique Cofiner Foundation presents “No se lo digas a nadie: Canciones del siglo XX para el siglo XXI” ("Don't tell anyone: Songs of the 20th century for the 21st century"). An album made up of 11 songs composed by Enrique Cofiner in the middle of the last century, which still resonate in the popular imagination and which have been reviewed, reinterpreted and given new meaning by the pianist and composer Carles Marigó.
The intention of this work was to connect with the roots of Cofiner, born in 1909 in the Raval neighborhood of Barcelona whose father, a gypsy from Valls (Tarragona), was a flamenco guitarist and from whom he absorbed much of the language that we can find in his work. This is why most of the arrangements have been made in a flamenco key.
Among the selection present on the album, we find representative pieces of Cofiner's different musical styles and rhythms in the same way that we find well-known songs like 'Me gusta mi novio' to others that are little known like “Corazón sin canción”. The author has more than 500 registered works, in which we can find a very eclectic and modern style for the time. Among the performers we find, in addition to Carles Marigó (piano), the Barcelona singer Anna Colom, one of the most renowned emerging voices of today and in charge of giving voice to these songs; and exceptional musicians with a great influence of flamenco, many of them trained and linked to the ESMUC (School of Music of Catalonia) such as David Domínguez (percussion), Ismael Alcina (bass), Ezequiel Coria (guitar) and Isabel Rojo Escudé- Cofiner (voice), granddaughter of the composer himself.
