The modern piano is indebted to the monumental "Sonata in B minor" by Franz Liszt, considered one of the greatest piano pieces and also one of the most difficult, it is one of the key piano works of Romanticism. Unique in its genre and summary of the musical and interpretive thought of the Hungarian musician.
Not only is it an extraordinarily difficult work from a virtuosic point of view, but it also presents the challenge of coherence throughout the interpretation, of internalizing the complete work and of choosing at each moment the appropriate sound according to the most intimate writing or symphony used. It was dedicated to Schumann in 1853, but due to its complexity, its depth, and its dimensions, it was not understood until years later.
Born in Moscow, Varvara Nepomnyaschaya trained at the Gnessin Music School and at the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow with Mikhail Voskressensky and later in Hamburg with Evgeni Korolev. In 2006 she was awarded at the International Bach Competition in Leipzig and in 2012 she won First Prize at the Géza Anda Competition in Zurich.
