Ballad time. With that natural sound that characterizes Blau Records, here is “Danny Boy”, an album by the versatile saxophonist Gilad Atzmon accompanied by the young pianist Matyas Gayer, the bassist Mark Hodgson and the drummer Stephen Keogh with the collaboration on several guitar tracks by Fernando Marco, producer of the album and lifeblood of the label. Eight well-known, inexhaustible themes, recreated by a musician from Atzmon's experience, here in his very personal 'Coltranian' way. He has participated in global music experiences with performers from the Middle East, on records by Pink Floyd, Robert Wyatt (no nonsense) or the Blockheads, and recorded with stars like Paul McCartney, without ever losing his essence, adapting it. There are the records of him as a jazz performer, almost a rereading of the best days of Ronnie Scott's. “Danny boy”, the title track of the album, has a beautiful acoustic guitar by Fernando Marco and an arrangement that further enhances Atzmon's quality. Safe shelter from the storm.
