"Equanimity" is the new album by R.S. Faktor and represents a powerful and decisive step forward in the career of Rubén Salvador, who assumes the greatest share of authorship of the material, if we exclude two stupendous contributions from drummer Hilario Rodeiro. The rest of the compositions spring directly from Salvador's talent for creating sound scaffolding full of interesting contrasts of accents and dialogue or constant counterpoint between the melodic lines and the rhythmic supports, as happens in 'Equanimity' or 'Annica', to name a few of examples. It is also interesting to hear how sometimes it is a brief introductory cadence that establishes a particular mood for the melody, like Aritz Luzuriaga's double bass on 'Vibration Triangle'. Details, and many more could be mentioned, that reveal a conscientious and intelligent work when building, in no case to the detriment of the spontaneity that is inherent to the language of jazz.
These and many other factors make listening to “Equanimity” a delight. And the most important thing is that the music and the determination of this wonderful artist that is Rubén Salvador predict many exciting releases and future projects. That said, let there be no doubt, with the greatest of equanimities...
