The double bass player Jon Piris and the pianist Iñar Sastre walk a path where the harmony of contemporary music and the rhythm of jazz come together, and which, with a view to the future, they want to turn into an open project where they can visit new soundscapes on every occasion.
And they have more than succeeded, “Pasieran” (for a walk) is all that and much more, once one enters the path and accompanies the soft rhythm, opens their ears wide and discovers the delicious subtlety of every detail. There is a lot of jazz and contemporary improvisation, of course, but above all this, there is an evocative, melancholy and moving air of a silent film soundtrack or an old puppet theater. As we enter the walk, the stories of its landscapes and characters accompany our walk.
Recorded in 2022 by Juanan Ros at the Jesus Guridi Conservatory in Gasteiz (Basque Country), “Pasieran” is made up of a handful of his own compositions based on improvisations. Double bass and piano protagonists and leaders at all times, led by Jon Piris and Iñar Sastre. It is not necessary more, when two maestros like them dialogue in a sincere and free environment.
