MORAU ETA BEÑARDO
CD LIBRO / LIBRO CD
GAZTELUPEKO HOTSAK (GH 309 02)
The songs written and sung in homage to him or cursing him or directly under the influence of wine number in the thousands. But we do not remember many that dedicate from the first word to the last, its title, and all its aesthetics and graphics (in total, 12 songs, 50 poems and 24 illustrations complete this "artifact") to the spell of the ancestral fermented grape juice. Even less that they have been able to describe all the aspects of the magical potion so beautifully and with that peculiar sensitivity that Morau displays. In his own words, this is a work born of pleasure, curiosity and, above all, pure love, and the truth is that it is something that is transmitted and seems to emanate from every corner of the songs to soak us up ( and also getting drunk) little by little.
In a vein similar to that of great creators such as Jonathan Richman or Billy Bragg, Andoni Tolosa "Morau" has always shown an extraordinary ability to combine emotion and literary elegance in small musical vignettes full of costumbrista charm. In recent times, the wonderful guitarist Beñardo Goietxe (Noise Hole, Mugalariak...) has been his usual accompanist both on his live shows and on the recordings they have recorded as a duo. In “Ardo” he is once again the protagonist, contributing delicate and rich textures to the candidness of the songs. It is also another old acquaintance and collaborator of Morau, the comic artist Iñaki Martiarena Mattin, who has created the aesthetic concept with his illustrations in the book and on the cover.
