I came from Japan to Barcelona, Spain on September 25, 2001, aspiring to learn the interpretation of
Spanish music with the great pianist Alicia de Larrocha. For many years I had the honour and the privilege
of studying under her and learning her techniques. On September 25, 2009, I held a recital in Japan with
a repertoire consisting of Spanish pieces to show my appreciation to my admired teacher, who had taught
me so much. Right after the recital, I received the doleful news of Alicia’s passing. September 25, 2021,
will mark the twentieth anniversary of my arrival in Barcelona. During these years, numerous people and
six beloved pets —four dogs and two cats— have helped me and supported me. These works are inspired
by the treasured memories and experiences with all those people and animals. They are dedicated to
them with my sincere gratitude.
