After the excellent reception of his first album, “Vejézate”, Tomelloso guitarist José Almarcha presents his second studio album, under the name “Alejandra”.
The album's title refers to his own mother, whose loss inevitably led to a change in the musician's way of composing and performing, with the memory of her behind each note. "Alejandra" is therefore a personal, intimate album, where Almarcha develops that inner journey to show us the power that the essence of life, roots and sources exerts on oneself. A musical ideogram about all those places, experiences and people that leave a mark on yourself, that make up the DNA of your personality.
Thus, José evokes us with his music to vital references that may well acquire a universal meaning: Tradition and celebration in tangos, with the festivities of the Vinalia or the grape harvest. Unforgettable landscapes in the seguiriya, evoking the memory of the light that filters through the leaves of a lush forest. The comfortable and unmistakable Petrichor in the guajira, that popular “smell of damp earth”. And tributes to artistic references, in this case to the maestro Basilio Villalta in the toque por levante (cantaor, also from Tomelloso) and to the universal Sabicas in the milonga.
