Originally released in 1984, "Guitar Slinger" has sold over 100,000 copies in the U.S. alone. It was Johnny’s Alligator debut after years of increasingly unfocused, rock-oriented albums. Johnny was thrilled to be on a label that was eager for nothin’ but the blues and he delivered the goods on three blistering albums, setting himself on a comeback trail that lasted the rest of his life.
Due to a copyright dispute, the song "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye" has been removed from this album and the unreleased track, "Nothin’ But The Devil "is added with guest James Cotton.
