Cordelia was formed in 2007 led by the actress and singer Lola Botello. Since then, it has established itself as a stable group where the musicians remain faithful to the project that brought them together (something very unusual among jazz musicians who tend to be quite itinerant). In 2011 they record their first album "Solitude" where they capture the musical experience lived in these years of music together. During 2019 and what this 2020 has allowed, he has been touring with the show "Un paraguas japonés" ("A Japanese umbrella") of which they now present the CD, with a monographic repertoire by Kurt Weill.
The aforementioned show was created from the correspondence between Kurt Weill and his wife Lotte Lenya and her recording of the album "September Songs and Other American Theater Songs" in 1957. Kurt Weill had passed away seven years earlier and Lenya dedicated the rest of your life to preserve his music.
The show, and now this recording, are intended to be a tribute to this exceptional woman who paid the price to remain in the shadow of her husband's artistic genius. Lenya was a fascinating woman, as well as an excellent actress and singer. Her performances of Weill's work of hers remain a must-see for anyone who wants to get close to her.
