Forth album of Rony Verbiest under Hans Kusters Music-September label. Once again the highly reputed accordion player comes to delight us with an album on arrhythmic tempos played on his usual mastery in “Musette Swing” key. “From Brussels to Paris” contains 14 tracks, mostly own composition of Verbiest, where can be easily seen the years he switched his accordion for the saxo, leaving a strong imprint of a saxo player cadence when playing back his accordion. We can find within the tracklist a brillian tribute to Thelonious Monk in the song “Blues for T”, the reflexive “Mathilde” or some others Rony songs exuding pure contemporary jazz as “Manuscript”. All this combined with version of great jazz highliths like “Bye Bye Blackbird” or “September Song”, performed with this magical fluidity that Verbiest has us used to.
