DONNA SUMMER gained prominence during the 1970s disco era, propelled by her incessant and creative driving force
behind the genre’s global popularity, rightly earning the title “Queen Of Disco” and becoming one of the most successful
recording artists of the entire decade.
Donna was the first Artist to have three consecutive Double-Albums reach No. 1 on the US Billboard charts and also became
the first artist to achieve four No. 1 singles in a thirteen month period.
Donna’s catalogue has sold more than 130 Million units worldwide proving that she was able to accommodate new musical
and production styles throughout her career.
Having recorded for Casablanca Records throughout the 1970s, Donna Summer became the first Artist signed to the new
Geffen Records label in 1980. She ended the 1980s and started the 1990s recording for Atlantic Records.
Donna Summer recorded two albums for Mercury Records - 1983’s ‘She Works Hard For The Money’ and 1994’s ‘Christmas
Spirit’, whilst bowing out of the 20th century with 1999’s Epic Records released ‘VH1 Presents Live & More Encore!’
In 2007, Donna signed for Sony’s ‘boutique label, Burgundy Records and recorded what was sadly to be her final studio
album, ‘CRAYONS’, which was originally released on 20th May 2008.
This reissue coincides with the exact eighth anniversary of that release but sadly also coincides with the week that marks four
years since her untimely passing.
