Clara Montes was born in Madrid, with origins in Andalusia (Huelva and Seville) and currently resides in Cádiz. From a very young age and in her adolescence, she received a solid musical training, especially related to flamenco, first through her father, and later receiving guitar lessons from Ramón Montoya and the composer, teacher and soloist Andrés Batista, training in music theory, harmony and singing in various schools in Madrid and Buenos Aires.
Exquisite and versatile singer, actress and composer, she has published eleven albums in her career and has also composed soundtracks for movies, theater and documentaries. In 1998 she recorded her first solo work singing twelve poems by Antonio Gala, an album with which she won the Music Award.
“Retratos” (“Portraits”) is her new album, a collection of songs written and composed by herself, with lyrics inspired by stories that she has seen and felt. Stories that have moved her, and that she wanted to tell us. Some had been written for years, but during the confinement he began to work on them, perfecting them obsessively, and transforming them into new songs, and when he realized that they were finished, he couldn't resist and went to the studio to record them, giving I start this new project.
Clara defines this album as the most personal of her career.
She has been lucky enough to collaborate with great musicians who have helped give each song that particular sound that each of them needed.
On guitars are Melón Jiménez (flamenco guitar) and Fernando Girón, guitar masters who provide the entire harmonic base, Javier Rojas on bass; behind the heartbreaking cello is Maestro Rafael Domínguez, soloist of the Community of Madrid Symphony Orchestra; the percussions and all the rhythm are due to Bandolero, a master of flamenco percussion; on trumpet and flugelhorn the great Manuel Machado; Jesús Antúnez on drums and Diego Marsellés on acoustic guitar.
