Robert Gerhard: Vocal Folksongs
CLASSICAL / CONTEMPORARY
SEED MUSIC (SEED 013 02)
Composer Robert Gerhard (Valls, September 25, 1896 - Cambridge, January 5, 1970) is one of the most important figures in 20th century European music. His musical production, extensive and kaleidoscopic in equal measure, and his spirit, a quixotic point, illustrate an unconventional artistic conception characterized by an extraordinary aesthetic evolution.
Arnold Schönberg's sole disciple in Spain, Robert Gerhard explored remarkably different styles and projects throughout his career. This album shows us a Gerhard who is indebted to popular music and strongly seduced by a vocality that is as clear as it is exciting.
