Eva Fernández is a young promise of Catalan jazz who stands out as a saxophonist and singer. Despite her youth, and as a member of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, conducted by the multi-instrumentalist Joan Chamorro, Eva Fernández has accumulated a long experience in a few years and is part of the new batch of young and prominent female voices.
After releasing her first record That Darkness in quintet format, Eva Fernández now presents herself with another smaller proposal. Her new work “Yo pregunto”, where she sings and plays the saxophone accompanied by guitarist Josep Munar and drummer Enric Fuster, with whom she lands a fresh, contemporary and elegant jazz.
The album includes original songs by Fernández and Munar based on the poetry of Alfonsina Storni, Alejandra Pizarnik and Julio Cortázar, among others. The trio is the result of a search for the balance that forms the music: melody, harmony and rhythm, giving the same importance to each element. Together they try to look for an organic sonority, giving prominence to the song without leaving aside the improvisation, space where they feel at home.
