Zazu is a jazz singer whose passion for this music has taken to live in Barcelona, the Spanish city of swing. Thanks to the city´s musical life, she participates developing her music as a singer, piano player, arranger and composer.
After several years studying in The Netherlands (Prince Claus Conservatorium in Grongingen) and taking lessons from great artists, such as Dena de Rose o Judy Niemack, in 2014 she decided to sign up for the Barcelona Jazz Master, at the Catalonia School of Music (ESMUC). There she had the pleasure of working with magnificent teachers such as Mireia Lara, Joan Monne and Francesc Capella, among others.
She has performed in several International scenes, as the North Square Lounge of New York, with the singer Roz Corral, and guitarist Gilad Hekselman, or the Music Village in Bruselas, with Judy Niemack.
In the Catalonian scenario, she has been surrounded by great musicians, such as Juli Aymí, Jordi Berni, Olivier Rocque o Josep Traver among others. By performing and arranging music based in the 20’s and 30’s style, she is always trying to bring swing and classical jazz closer to the public.
This is the title of Zazu´s first work as a jazz singer, music arranger and composer.
"S(w)inging Love" (Temps Record, 2017) offers a selection of well-known songs from the international pop-rock scene (Eric Clapton, Coldplay, Maroon Five, Beatles, etc.), adapted and arranged for a Dixieland band, offering a type of swing similar to the one that existed during the 1920’s and 30’s.It is also Zazu´s debut as a composer, with the themes "Wanna Be Loved" and "Singing About Love".
Recorded in December 2015 at the Via Laietana studio in Barcelona, as part of the Barcelona Jazz Master final project, and directed by Francesc Capella, S(w)inging Love is- as suggested by its title- a mixture of singing and swinging love themes.
