The group was born almost by chance on New Year's Eve 1974 in the old Zeleste room on Carrer de l'Argenteria in Barcelona, a street that, in the Spanish of the time, was still called "calle Plateria", which thus it gave the name to the orchestra. Over time, the Plateria Orchestra became professional and consolidated around the vocalist Manel Joseph as a Catalan dance orchestra that would become the most requested, along with La Salseta del Poble Sec, in the major festivals of the most diverse populations. .
