The Japanese pianist Ayako Fujiki is a master of Spanish Classical music who studied with a renowned pianist Alicia de Larrocha. A part from Spanish classical music, she has been influenced by different genres of music from different eras. This time round, she goes back to her classical roots.
“FANTASIA “ (Temps Record, 2019) is a collection of Fantasia’s piano pieces composed by Ayako’s favourite composers such as Robert Schumann, Felix Mendelssohn, Joaquín Turina, Manuel de Falla and Franz Liszt. Fantasia or Rhapsody is musical term which implies an imaginative musical "idea" rather than a particular compositional genre and its form and style consequently ranges from the freely improvisatory to the strictly contrapuntal and also encompasses more or less standard sectional forms. With this FANTASIA, Ayako wanted to do a classical piano album to reflect on classical freedom and to challenge herself with virtuosic classical playing.
